We are delighted to partner with Strathmore University Law School and Nafisika Trust in providing self-representation monthly training to inmates in several remand prisons in Nairobi. Our joint belief is that justice should not be a preserve of the rich and that legal representation should be understood as a fundamental constitutional right.
Nafisika Trust is a key partner with the Kenya Prison Service where in rolling out life skills and entrepreneurship programs aimed at reducing recidivism rates among inmates through behaviour change and economic empowerment skills training
We have partnered with CLEAR Kenya to fund and provide legal aid for deserving Kenyans. Without adequate access to legal aid, those living in poverty or facing mental or intellectual difficulties can face the threat of exclusion from the rights guaranteed by law and by Kenya’s Constitution and Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Our collaboration with CLEAR Kenya facilitates access to essential legal and social services for these individuals and reduces the likelihood that they become, or remain, trapped in a cycle of poverty.
Our Senior Partner volunteers his time to support Cornerstone Preparatory Academy. The said Academy is a not for profit private school located in Mahi Mahiu which focuses on transforming and equipping the lives of children from the local community who have suffered many challenges, such as fatherlessness, family substance abuse, high crime rates, sexual and physical abuse, abandonment, lack of prior schooling, malnutrition, untreated illnesses, and those who are victims of the social economic impact of HIV/AIDs.
Cornerstone and Naomi’s Village believe transformational education is the answer. By replacing barriers with proven solutions in one key community, a core group of Kenya’s most impoverished children can be raised to be the agents of change that influence tomorrow.
Our Senior Partner volunteers his time and skill in supporting Children Karibu Centre. The Centre is a community program that offers pre-school, after school programs, and job readiness training for underprivileged families in Kenya. Since change happens at the community level, its programs not only engage children and youth, but also empower parents, driving change throughout the whole community.
We provide legal and financial aid to Alternatives Africa. Alternatives is targeted at providing an ecosystem that offers business development services, financial services and marketing services to youth-led micro and small enterprises for economic growth and job creation. Alternatives Africa is the power behind the “Africa Mind Campaign” aimed at transforming Africa Youth from relying on political leadership to shape the destiny of Africa and equipping them with an enterprise paradigm shift sufficient to cause an economic uprising throughout Africa.
We provide free legal aid to the Africa Leadership Trust. The initiative aims to stimulate political leadership and engagement in the private and public sector by fostering and nurturing Christian Values to transform Africa. It leverages on the voices of its high-level Champions to amplify and elevate governance transformation and a new vision for Africa. The board and secretariat comprises a group of renowned experts and advisors from diverse sectors in socio-economic development of Africa.
We have partnered with the Kenya School of Law to support their bursary scheme and in admitting a cohort of 12 pupils every year into our twelve months intense apprenticeship scheme. Our pupils are given a solid course and mentorship on both the technical as well as soft skills that are a prerequisite to success in the legal field. We have been very proud of the success of our pupils over the years who have graduated from the course and are adding value in diverse sectors of the legal sector and the economy.
In recognizing that Oil and Gas is at its nascent stage in Kenya, we have partnered with the Law Society of Kenya, Nairobi Branch in delivering a six month continuous professional development course for practicing Advocates on Oil and Gas. The faculty will include petroleum economists, geologists, petroleum engineers and our leading lawyers with decades of experience in the Oil and Gas sector.
